Business expansion made easy with NETGEAR’s new ‘Super G’ products
Technology specialists increase the speed and range of network to support growing operations
Sydney, Australia (June date, 2004) – Tovegin Pty. Ltd, a team of technology specialists, has deployed NETGEAR’s ‘Super G’ products to upgrade the speed, coverage and security of its wireless network to support its expanding operations.
As a technology and management consultancy, Tovegin has been in operation for more than 10 years, helping companies to establish a web-presence via the implementation of a comprehensive range of e-commerce solutions.
To better support this business and to increase office productivity and functionality, Tovegin initially deployed a NETGEAR wireless network in 2002, connecting its in-house collection of personal computers and laptops with printers, faxes and scanners.
“Being technology consultants, we keep abreast of various technology industry publications and technology review web sites, and we initially turned to NETGEAR because of the competitive pricing it offered,” said Larry Czarnik, Director, Tovegin. “However, our NETGEAR products proved their worth not only in terms of affordability but also in their performance and reliability.”
In 2004, while renovating its current premises and expanding operations to include a new branch office, Tovegin needed to upgrade the network to ensure maximum speed and range were available at each location. The network also had to be easily accessed by staff moving between the two offices and capable of supporting the high data throughput this technology specialist required on a daily basis.
Impressed by the performance of its existing wireless network, Tovegin again looked to NETGEAR, deciding the new ‘Super G’ products – the WGT624 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router and WG511T 108 Mbps Wireless PC Card – would meet the needs of its expanding network.
“Once we were hooked on wireless we demanded more distance and greater speed,” said Larry. “The lust for additional speed that the WGT624 could offer was just too good to resist!”
The NETGEAR WGT624 and WG511T suited Tovegin as, when used together, they offer speeds of 108 Mbps - up to 10 times faster than 802.11b networks. The new antennae technology included in these Super G products increases the range of the wireless network, ensuring that byte-hungry photos, MP3s and digital movie streams can be easily distributed over a distance of up to 300 feet.
And, with more than 10 security and privacy features including a double firewall (NAT + SPI), Multi-VPN (pass-through) support and next generation wireless encryption WPA (pre-shared key), Tovegin was assured its company resources were protected.
“Our intellectual property is the essence of our business and needs to be protected. Since firewalls are an essential part of company security and prevention of intellectual property theft, we spent considerable time comparing firewall capabilities before purchasing. Our evaluation required an effective balance of firewall features with router and wireless capabilities, which we found in the Super G products,” said Larry.
Since deploying the NETGEAR Super G products in its newly renovated office, Tovegin has moved its older networking products to its branch office. And now, without any configuration changes being made to laptops, staff can move between offices and connect to other networks without any complications. Also, as both units have firewall protection, company resources are never left open to security breaches.
“The expansion to a branch office brought with it a few headaches but none of them were related to the relocation, re-installation and re-configuration of our NETGEAR products."
“And, most importantly, the WGT624 does its job magnificently - even through all of the power ups and downs, and dust that an office renovation can throw at it! We now spend less time having to move around to find good reception and while the WGT624 doesn’t require much in the way of maintenance, the unit’s web interface makes for ease of use.”
When initially considering the upgrade, Larry spoke extensively to the NETGEAR support team in order to determine which products were best for Tovegin.
“NETGEAR’s support team was responsive and innovative, suggesting different networking options,” said Larry. “We fired question after question at them about various aspects of firewalls, configuration and different unit options. Each time the response was timely and complete.”
Based on the performance of Tovegin’s current network, Larry believes the company will continue to invest in NETGEAR products.
“We will keep using NETGEAR products wherever possible as its prices are just too good to beat, especially given its support and performance track record.”
